Description: For this episode, I recorded Celeste in the fall when the geese were migrating. Geese make Celeste giggle. It was a quirky shoot day, so it's a quirky video. Celeste Nelms is my personal goddess of photography. I first saw her work in 1993 at Copernicus Coffee House in Lowertown St. Paul, Minnesota. It took me several years to work up the courage to talk to her and then a while longer to ask her if I could record her for my series. Her eye for texture, detail, complexity, depth, tone, contrast, and composition enthrall me; everything about her work is absolutely amazing to me. I like how stimulating her photographs are in content. Even if I don't know exactly what's going on in her photographs, they inspire me to come up with stories or to keep guessing. I'm always caught by her work as it stops me short in my tracks. It's so captivating that I get lost in the images. Celeste has a gift in seeing life in things that others might see as dead, and she animates objects in unique ways. Looking at her photographs can be both mental relief and a mental workout, and I appreciate both activities in viewing art!
